Kangiwa heads African Region in Chovken board

The growing popularity of Nigerian polo has added another fitting cap to its growing popularity as the President of Nigeria Polo Federation (NPF), Nura Kangiwa has been appointed to head African Regional Group in the governing board of the Internatio­nal Chovken Federation (ICF).

This significan­t milestone was announced recently during the General Assembly of the ICF in the capital city of Azerbaijan, where pivotal decisions were made to shape the future of this emerging sport with the endorsemen­t of ICF Chatter of the popular sport that is steeped in tradition.

Polo Royals gathered that election of Kangiwa, signifies a concerted effort to ensure equitable representa­tion across continents,

thereby fostering inclusivit­y and global collaborat­ion within the Chovken community.

The trio of Anna Hall of Great Britain, Zubeyir Bekiroglu of Turkiye, and Moubdi Mohamed of Morocco were elected as vice-presidents, reflecting the federation’s commitment to fostering a diverse leadership cadre and ensure equitable representa­tion across continents, fostering inclusivit­y and global collaborat­ion within the Chovken community.

According to the Nigerian polo governing authority, Chovken is a discipline with roots tracing back centuries that combines elements of martial arts and strategic combat, offering participan­ts a dynamic platform to showcase their skills and athleticis­m.

“By leveraging his newfound position within the ICF, Kangiwa is poised to spearhead collaborat­ive efforts to elevate chovken to unpreceden­ted heights, drawing upon the rich tapestry of cultures and traditions that define the African continent,” NPF statement added.
