NEWSBYTES Where is Alams?
Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha is the leader of the delegates from President Goodluck Jonathan’s home state, Bayelsa. But the former Bayelsa governor has maintained a low profile since the commencement of the conference two weeks ago.
And this is unlike Alams, who has been enmeshed in controversies since his celebrated arrest by police in London over money laundering in 2005, his subsequent dramatic impeachment, and recently the controversial amnesty granted him by President Jonathan.
Alams came to the conference just when criticism of his pardon has died down.
As one of the back bones of Jonathan’s administration, particularly his re-election bid, Alams apparently decided to lie low as the conference gets into full swing.
May be this is a strategy by one of the powerful politicians from the Niger Delta.
