Kwara gov signs budget of N130bn into law

Kwara State Gover­nor Ab­dul­fa­tah Ahmed yes­ter­day signed the 2014 budget of N130 bil­lion into law.

Daily Trust learnt that the es­ti­mate of N124 bil­lion sub­mit­ted to the state House of As­sem­bly by the gover­nor in De­cem­ber, last year was jacked up by five per cent.

Ahmed said the budget themed: “Budget of ex­pan­sion for in­clu­sive pros­per­ity”, is a blue­print for build­ing on ex­ist­ing pro­grammes and ini­ti­at­ing new projects for the ben­e­fit of the state.

The gover­nor ex­plained that the in­crease in the budget was to ac­com­mo­date the de­lays in se­cur­ing the pro­posed N30 bil­lion bond for so­cioe­co­nomic cap­i­tal projects.

Ahmed promised to ad­here strictly to the pro­vi­sions of the budget with a view to putting more money in peo­ples’ pock­ets, get­ting more youths into work, re­mod­elling additional hos­pi­tals and other so­cial ameni­ties.
