FG uncovers 1,050 age cheats in civil service

- By John Chuks Azu

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOSF), Alhaji Goni Aji, yesterday said the service has screened out 1, 050 age falsifiers in the civil service through the Integrated Payment Personnel Information System (IPPIS).

Speaking at the 60th anniversary of the Nigeria civil service in Abuja yesterday, Aji said the discovery will open the space for workers who have suffered delay in their promotion.

“We have screened out personnel who have tinkered with their records to remain in service. I can assure you, in the next two weeks, these people will be on their way out of the service,” he said.

Also speaking, Minister of National Planning Bashir Yuguda, who represented Vice President Namadi Sambo, charged civil servants to remain true to the core values of the service which include integrity, meritocracy, discipline, political neutrality, permanence, accountability, transparency and anonymity.

He said that President Goodluck Jonathan has adopted a collaborative effort with the ministers on key performance indicators to identify performing MDAs.
