Major military operation underway in Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau –DHQ

The Nigerian Army has commenced major operations in the north central states of Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau to stop killings and destruction of lives and property.

Troops have already been deployed for a major offensive in the three states, a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade, yesterday said.

The three states, particularly Benue, has been under sustained attacks by gunmen suspected to be cattle herders in recent months.

“The internal security operations is meant to capture and neutralise all the enclaves of criminal gangs,” Olukolade said.

The Nigerian Air Force, Police and other security agencies are also participating in the operation designed to restore peace in the affected states,” he added.
