Kaduna APC favours ‘consensus candidates’
The party also established a committee cochaired by Senator Sani Saleh and Dr. Hakeem BabaAhmed to serve as a coordinating body for the smooth facilitation of the congresses
Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has voted in favour of candidates emerging through consensus arrangements in future congresses.
This was part of the resolutions reached at the end of the ‘consultation meeting’ in preparation for the ward, local government and state congresses of the party taking place between April 5 and 23, 2014 in Kaduna.
Kano State governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso presided over the meeting.
During the meeting ‘leaders were enjoined to go back to their respective wards’ and encourage the emergence of consensus candidates wherever possible after which registered members will be allowed to vote in favour or against the candidates.
The party also established a committee co-chaired by Senator Sani Saleh and Dr. Hakeem BabaAhmed to serve as a coordinating body for the smooth facilitation of the congresses.
Members of the committee included Alhaji Ahmadu Yaro Coca Cola, Alhaji Awwal Gote, Alhaji Lawai Aliyu, Alhaji Yaro Makama, Mallam Nasir EI-Rufai, J. D Ephraim, Datti Garba and Admiral Ibrahim Iko. Others are Joel Giwa Kwasau, Ambassador Sule Buba, Chief Samuel Onyeama, Hajiya Binta Muazu, Mrs. Rebecca Bard, Ms. Sheba Kura and Bala Yunusa. The Committee would appoint its Secretary.
The meeting appealed to members to avoid badmouthing each other using the mass media.
