Envoy urges beneficiaries to give back to society
The Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria Mr. Ajjampur Rangaiaj Ghanashyam has advised members of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme (ITEC) to form a group on how they can give back to their communities.
The programme according to the envoy is run by the Government of India.
The envoy made the remarks in Abuja when he hosted members who benefitted from the ITEC programme.
He said the programme is demanddriven and response-oriented that focuses on addressing the needs of developing countries through innovative technological cooperation between India and the partnering nation.
Ghanashyam said with the Special Commonwealth Assistance for Africa Programme together with the ITEC covers 158 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, and several Pacific and Caribbean nations.
He however disclosed that since its inception, the programme has spent over $2 billion and benefited thousands of students and professionals from around the globe with an annual expenditure of about $100 million.
