Cop dis­missed over rape

A mo­bile po­lice of­fi­cer at­tached to the Spe­cial Task Force (STF) who was last week ar­rested for al­legedly rap­ing a four-year-old girl in Kassa, Barkin Ladi Lo­cal Govern­ment Area of Plateau State has been dis­missed.

Plateau State Po­lice Com­mis­sioner, Mr. Chris Olakpe, who pa­raded the sus­pect, Cor­po­ral Da­mudu Bz­ibu, along with other crim­i­nals at the state po­lice head­quar­ters in Jos, said the vic­tim’s fa­ther dis­cov­ered blood gush­ing from the pants of his daugh­ter and that when he in­ter­ro­gated her, she said she was as­saulted by a mo­bile po­lice of­fi­cer.

Olakpe said Bz­ibu with force num­ber, 378612, at­tached to the Spe­cial Task Force was iden­ti­fied as the sus­pect and that he has been dis­missed from the force, adding: “the In­spec­tor Gen­eral of Po­lice, Muham­mad Dahiru Abubakar is solidly be­hind any po­lice man that is do­ing a good work, there­fore there is no room for un­pro­fes­sional con­duct.”

Olakpe said state­ment has been ob­tained from the sus­pect and that in­ves­ti­ga­tion on the rape case was at its peak. He added that the force was presently at the point of car­ry­ing out foren­sic anal­y­sis af­ter which the sus­pect will be charged to court.

The po­lice also pa­raded a 12-year-old boy, Mo­hammed Bello, who al­legedly stabbed his 20-year-old brother over a mis­un­der­stand­ing.

The com­mand also pa­raded four armed rob­bers, who in­vaded the home of a per­ma­nent sec­re­tary, Mrs. Julie Anpe. The rob­bers were said to have been ar­rested by men of ‘A’ Di­vi­sion led by CSP Vic­tor Dimkpa.

Other sus­pects pa­raded in­clude Ben­jamin Toma, who al­legedly hanged his wife to death when she re­fused his sex­ual ad­vances.
