Cop dismissed over rape

A mobile police officer attached to the Special Task Force (STF) who was last week arrested for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl in Kassa, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State has been dismissed.

Plateau State Police Commission­er, Mr. Chris Olakpe, who paraded the suspect, Corporal Damudu Bzibu, along with other criminals at the state police headquarte­rs in Jos, said the victim’s father discovered blood gushing from the pants of his daughter and that when he interrogat­ed her, she said she was assaulted by a mobile police officer.

Olakpe said Bzibu with force number, 378612, attached to the Special Task Force was identified as the suspect and that he has been dismissed from the force, adding: “the Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Dahiru Abubakar is solidly behind any police man that is doing a good work, therefore there is no room for unprofessi­onal conduct.”

Olakpe said statement has been obtained from the suspect and that investigat­ion on the rape case was at its peak. He added that the force was presently at the point of carrying out forensic analysis after which the suspect will be charged to court.

The police also paraded a 12-year-old boy, Mohammed Bello, who allegedly stabbed his 20-year-old brother over a misunderst­anding.

The command also paraded four armed robbers, who invaded the home of a permanent secretary, Mrs. Julie Anpe. The robbers were said to have been arrested by men of ‘A’ Division led by CSP Victor Dimkpa.

Other suspects paraded include Benjamin Toma, who allegedly hanged his wife to death when she refused his sexual advances.
