Plateau APC asks national secretariat to disregard calls for exco dissolution

- From Lami Sadiq, Jos

Interim management committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, has asked the party’s national secretariat to disregard calls for the dissolution of the state exco and the allegations made by a group, ‘APC for All in Plateau’ that the state interim chairman, Gen. John Shagaya (Rtd) is running the party like his personal fiefdom.

Leader of the ‘APC for All in Plateau,’ Engineer Bulus Damshe Lakshek had last Thursday led a delegation to the party headquarters in Abuja where he issued a protest letter accusing Shagaya of creating problems in the party as well as not carrying other members of the party along.

However, in a statement made available to journalists in Jos, the state interim secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki Nakande described the statement by the group as false stressing that Lakshak defected from the defunct CPC for fomenting trouble and creating a faction and later crossed over to the former ACN and has not answered to the allegations against him.

Nakande explained that “In complete variance to their press statement, evidences are available to show that the interim management committee of the APC, after its inauguration on the 19/11/2013, has been holding meetings with Shagaya presiding over each meeting.

The statement further called on those in Lekshak’s delegation to work hard towards the congresses of the party beginning April 5th “by canvassing for votes to get elected into substantive position from the units, wards, LGAs and state rather than ranting like a cricket destined for self destruction.” He urged the general public to disregard the group and ignore their activities.
