Ekiti guber: APC accuses Jonathan of instigating violence

- From Doyin Adebusuyi, Ado Ekiti

The All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has asked the Presidency to allow the people of the state choose their next governor and refrain from anything capable of throwing the state into crisis.

The APC accused the Presidency of aiding the gubernatorial candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Ayo Fayose, to foment trouble in order to capture the state in the June 21 governorship election.

Speaking with journalists in Ado Ekiti yesterday, Director General of Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organization, Bimbo Daramola, berated the federal government for “giving undue advantage to Fayose”.

Daramola noted that the kind of security apparatus deployed in the state to protect Fayose could only be accorded either the president or state governor.

“There is a script already written for Fayose to throw Ekiti into another orgy of violence. What does Fayose, who claims to be popular need such a contingent of SSS and policemen for? And we want to emphasize that if there is any script at all being acted for anybody either in the gubernatorial election or 2015, we want to make it abundantly clear that Ekiti people will bungle it,” he said.

Daramola alleged that during a procession to usher in Fayose, some suspected PDP thugs vandalised the APC secretariat, destroyed four buses of the party and shot a member of the party, Babatunde Fatoye.

He alleged that Fatoye was attacked at Adebayo street, Ado Ekiti around 7.30pm when suspected thugs of the PDP shot a coaster bus conveying supporters of the APC from a campaign rally held in Oye Local Government Area.

But Fayose, through the spokesman of Ayo Fayose Campaign organization, Mr Idowu Adelusi, denied the allegation.

He said: “Our supporters who are being guarded by security operatives do not have time to attack the APC secretariat. Besides, the supporters were instructed by Ayo Fayose not to be violent and not to react to provocation by the APC as they moved from Ikere to Ado Ekiti and they obeyed the instruction. Therefore, what the APC is claiming is strange to us. Let them beam their search light elsewhere.”

Daramola maintained that the PDP thugs had earlier attacked and vandalized a

branded bus belonging to the APC which was parked in the premises of Fayemi ‘s campaign office in Ajilosun area of the Ado Ekiti.
