Confab: Northern delegates resolve to speak with one voice
Northern leaders of state delegates at the ongoing national conference have resolved to speak with one voice on matters concerning their communities.
The leaders met yesterday in Kaduna under the auspices of Northern Delegates Forum led by the co-chairmen, former Inspector General Ibrahim Coomasie and retired Lt General Jeremiah Useni, who represented Professed Jerry Gana.
Spokesman for the forum, Anthony Sani, said the meeting considered the ‘unfolding developments’ in the national conference with a view to articulating common positions on issues most northerners share as well as paying due attention to issues that are “peculiar to their states and communities with unity of purpose that comes with clear thought, clear morality and clear expression for the overall good of national unity and interest as they affect the North.”
The forum appointed Mohammed Kumalia as it’s the Secretary who will be assisted by Ambassador Mamman Yusufu, while Mr. Anthony N. Z. Sani is to serve as the forum’s spokesman to be assisted by Binta Garba.
In a related development, a delegate from Sokoto State and former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Alhaji Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi said every section of the country is fully represented at the conference and the outcome of the proceedings would be of national interest, adding that the agitation by youth groups that they were underrepresented was unfair. He said at no time did the northern delegates talk on cessation.
