One injured as crane crashes at renovation site

One person was yesterday injured when a crane being used at a renovation site fell on him in Abuja.

The victim was said to have been trapped under the crane while he was uploading building materials from a container brought from Lagos.

Witnesses told Daily Trust on condition of ananomity that the man was trapped for over three hours before he was rescued and taken to hospital with both legs damaged. National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), the Police and other agencies were called to provide to rescue the victim.

Another witness said the victim was advised to leave where he was standing before the accident because of the movement of the crane.

An official of NEMA, Manzo Ezikiel who spoke to Daily Trust on telephone said, their Ambulance service received a distress call and their Abuja operations office quickly rushed to the scene.
