One in­jured as crane crashes at ren­o­va­tion site

One per­son was yes­ter­day in­jured when a crane be­ing used at a ren­o­va­tion site fell on him in Abuja.

The vic­tim was said to have been trapped un­der the crane while he was up­load­ing build­ing ma­te­ri­als from a container brought from La­gos.

Wit­nesses told Daily Trust on con­di­tion of ananomity that the man was trapped for over three hours be­fore he was res­cued and taken to hospi­tal with both legs dam­aged. Na­tional Emer­gency Man­age­ment Agency (NEMA), the Federal Road Safety Com­mis­sion (FRSC), the Po­lice and other agencies were called to pro­vide to res­cue the vic­tim.

An­other wit­ness said the vic­tim was ad­vised to leave where he was stand­ing be­fore the ac­ci­dent be­cause of the move­ment of the crane.

An of­fi­cial of NEMA, Manzo Ezikiel who spoke to Daily Trust on tele­phone said, their Am­bu­lance ser­vice re­ceived a dis­tress call and their Abuja op­er­a­tions of­fice quickly rushed to the scene.
