Doctors begin threeday warning strike in Ekiti

- From Doyin Adebusuyi, Ado Ekiti

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Ekiti State chapter yesterday commenced a three-day warning strike.

The strike was in compliance with the extra ordinary meeting of the union held on March 26, where the doctors resolved to embark on strike following the expiration of the one-week ultimatum earlier given to the government to address their grievances.

The doctors are demanding the immediate restoration of Consolidated Medical Salary Scales(CONMESS) to doctors involved with primary health care and those in general hospitals and restoration of running grants to all general hospitals in the state among others.
