Journalist­s condemn attack on media house

Correspond­ents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalist­s (NUJ), Imo State Council, has condemned the attack on the editor and deputy editor of Newspoint Newspaper, an Owerri based publicatio­n by unknown gunmen.

This was contained in a statement issued in Owerri and endorsed by the secretary of the chapel, Mr. Athan Agbakwuru.

It was gathered that on Thursday March 27, 2014, unknown persons invaded the media house and inflicted injuries on the staff.

While sympathizi­ng with the management of Newspoint Newspapers, especially the editor, Mr Gele Agbai, deputy editor, Lambert Ojukwu and other staff injured, the union urged members of the forth estate of the realm not to be deterred by the incident, but to go about their duties diligently.

The union also called on security agents to commence investigat­ion into the matter and fish out the culprits.
