Jour­nal­ists con­demn at­tack on me­dia house

Cor­re­spon­dents Chapel of the Nige­rian Union of Jour­nal­ists (NUJ), Imo State Coun­cil, has con­demned the at­tack on the edi­tor and deputy edi­tor of News­point News­pa­per, an Ow­erri based pub­li­ca­tion by un­known gun­men.

This was con­tained in a state­ment is­sued in Ow­erri and en­dorsed by the sec­re­tary of the chapel, Mr. Athan Ag­bak­wuru.

It was gath­ered that on Thurs­day March 27, 2014, un­known per­sons in­vaded the me­dia house and in­flicted in­juries on the staff.

While sym­pa­thiz­ing with the man­age­ment of News­point News­pa­pers, es­pe­cially the edi­tor, Mr Gele Ag­bai, deputy edi­tor, Lam­bert Ojukwu and other staff in­jured, the union urged mem­bers of the forth es­tate of the realm not to be de­terred by the in­ci­dent, but to go about their du­ties dili­gently.

The union also called on se­cu­rity agents to com­mence in­ves­ti­ga­tion into the mat­ter and fish out the cul­prits.
