Should the HND/BSC dichotomybe abolished?

-

Sabiu Mustapha

The difference is very clear, you cannot compare those who have been taught by experienced professors and PhD holders and those taught by MSc and first degree holders.

Isah Jamu Gamba

Being taught by PhD holders doesn’t mean you know better.

If the government can’t equate them they should cancel HND from the polytechnic programme. This country is backward in technology because the polytechnic system is abandoned.

Emmah Emmanue

The discrimination between university and polytechnic should be abolished. Polytechnic graduate spends four months SIWES, two years for ND, one year for industrial experience and two years for HND, yet they are still discriminated against. Why put them through the stress?

Isa Muhammad Tudun-wada

How can you compare a university graduate with HND holder? What about a scenario where an individual acquires an Ordinary National Diploma, then spends one to four or even 10 years before going back to the polytechnic to acquire HND? What they produce can never be regarded as the same in status and quality. Why not call the HND certificate ‘ Higher National Degree‘ ?

Muhammed Abdullahi

Those who feel a degree is better don’t give point to support their stand. I feel HND is better than degree because the polytechnic is tough on practicals and they have more time devoted for industrial experience but in the universities, practicals start in 200 or 300 levels and have less IT time.
