Fashola laments boat mishap

Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State yesterday lamented the loss of lives occasioned by the boat mishap which occurred in the state last week.

He said the government established the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) to ensure quick response to safety issues.

Fashola added that the state has put in place regulations about the necessity to wear life vest on boats.

“It is for the commuters on ferries and canoes to insist that the boats have life jackets. We have procured life vests and very soon, we will be distributing them free to residents,” he said.
