Dis­quiet in Bayelsa APC over ward congress

The de­ci­sion of lead­ers of All Pro­gres­sives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State to adopt harmonized sys­tem of se­lect­ing of­fi­cers to head the 105 wards in the eight lo­cal govern­ment coun­cils of the state is ruf­fling feath­ers among the ranks of the party in the state.

Daily Trust gath­ered that the de­ci­sion for the harmonized sys­tem of se­lect­ing ward of­fi­cials was taken on Mon­day dur­ing an en­larged meet­ing of party lead­ers and sup­port­ers from the eight lo­cal govern­ment coun­cils of the state.

It was gath­ered that the meet­ing was presided over by the in­terim state leader of the party, Chief Ti­wei Orun­minigha and su­per­vised by the two-man ward del­e­gate com­mit­tee headed by Pro­fes­sor Ot­tis from Cross Rivers State.

Oth­ers at the meet­ing in­clude Hon. Sun­day FrankOputu,for­mer Chief of Staff to for­mer gover­nor,Chief Timipre Sylva, Sam Og­buku, for­mer Chair­man of Sag­bama Lo­cal Govern­ment Coun­cil, Perez Peretu, and one time state leader of PDP, Nabena Yekini.

How­ever at some of the ward con­gresses mon­i­tored by our cor­re­spon­dent in Sag­bama, Kolokuma/Opokuma, South­ern Ijaw and Ye­nagoa lo­cal Govern­ment Ar­eas of the state, the harmonized list pro­voked ar­gu­ment and was in­con­clu­sive.

Some of the APC mem­bers who spoke to our cor­re­spon­dent while call­ing for cau­tion ad­vised the party lead­er­ship not to be in a haste to ac­cept any ha­monised lists from any lo­cal govern­ment coun­cil.
