Disquiet in Bayelsa APC over ward congress

- From Chris Eze, Yenagoa

The decision of leaders of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State to adopt harmonized system of selecting officers to head the 105 wards in the eight local government councils of the state is ruffling feathers among the ranks of the party in the state.

Daily Trust gathered that the decision for the harmonized system of selecting ward officials was taken on Monday during an enlarged meeting of party leaders and supporters from the eight local government councils of the state.

It was gathered that the meeting was presided over by the interim state leader of the party, Chief Tiwei Orunminigha and supervised by the two-man ward delegate committee headed by Professor Ottis from Cross Rivers State.

Others at the meeting include Hon. Sunday FrankOputu, former Chief of Staff to former governor,Chief Timipre Sylva, Sam Ogbuku, former Chairman of Sagbama Local Government Council, Perez Peretu, and one time state leader of PDP, Nabena Yekini.

However at some of the ward congresses monitored by our correspondent in Sagbama, Kolokuma/Opokuma, Southern Ijaw and Yenagoa local Government Areas of the state, the harmonized list provoked argument and was inconclusive.

Some of the APC members who spoke to our correspondent while calling for caution advised the party leadership not to be in a haste to accept any hamonised lists from any local government council.
