White House not banning selfie photos with President Obama
The White House isn’t striking out presidential selfies after all. There is “no discussion of a ban” on selfie photographs with President Obama, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Monday — just a day after another top Obama aide warned of barring all presidential selfies.
On Sunday, White House Senior Adviser Dan Pfeiffer cautioned that the recent photograph Red Sox slugger David Ortiz took with the President — later revealed to be a public relations stunt for Samsung — could have been the last ever selfie with Obama.
“Maybe this will be the end of all selfies,” White House Senior Adviser Pfeiffer told CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “[Obama] obviously didn’t know anything about Samsung’s connection to this.”
But on Monday, Carney walked back his colleague’s comments as a joke, calling the remark “humorous.”
The picture appeared to be spontaneous, but Samsung later revealed it had a deal with Ortiz to promote its Galaxy Note 3 phone, which “Big Papi” used to take the photo.
