Another Nasarawa Rep set to dump APC to PDP
Member of the House of Representatives from Nasarawa State, Ishaq Ahmed Kana, is set to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Daily Trust has learnt.
When contacted, Kana simply replied via text saying “who told you”?
It was gathered that Kana held a stakeholders meeting with some of his coordinators across the various wards of his constituency of Kokona, Keffi and Karu, over the weekend in Keffi where he informed them of his resolve to leave the APC.
At the meeting, which was held at VIP Hotel in Keffi, Kana reportedly told the stakeholders that he wants to leave APC because being in the minority, he faces isolation at the National Assembly.
Kana’s defection will bring to three the number of APC House members from Nasarawa State who defected to the PDP. The others are Reps David Umbugadu and Haruna Kigbu, who left the APC in January.
The source said Kana told them that members of the opposition in the House are denied certain benefits as a result of which they are constrained hence his resolve to join the PDP.
Another source at the meeting said Kana’s decision to leave APC was informed by other grievances he has against his party, especially at the state level.
There are indications that some of his loyalists in Kokona Local Government where he hails from have started defecting to the PDP, following their defeat during the just concluded local governments polls.
His defection will present another setback to the APC in the House which 37 lawmakers have been advised to vacate their seats by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
