‘23 FCT communities benefitting from health service scheme’
The Secretary, FCT Health and Human Services Secretariat, Dr. Ademola Onakomaiya, has said that 23 communities are benefitting from the ongoing FCT Community Health Service Scheme.
He, however, added that over 30 communities have indicated their interests to join the programme.
Onakomaiya stated this when he paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Dr. Femi Thomas to congratulate him on his appointment.
He expressed his appreciation for the cordial relationship existing between NHIS and the FCTA, especially it’s Community Health Services Scheme, appealing to Thomas to better the situation.
Onakomaiya informed the NHIS boss that FCT Health Services Scheme would assess all health care providers and Health Maintenance Organisations (HMOs) partnering with the scheme, adding that enrollees to the scheme would also be revalidated to check wrong payments.
Responding, the Executive Secretary said that NHIS would soon conclude arrangements to commence coverage of public primary school pupils in FCT in line with the just concluded Presidential Summit on Universal Health Coverage.
He called on the FCTA to be ready to partner with them in this laudable project.
