One killed, five ar­rested over Bauchi APC congress

One per­son has been con­firmed killed by people sus­pected to be po­lit­i­cal thugs, while the po­lice have ar­rested five people in con­nec­tion with the killing. The man, whose name was with­held, was at­tacked dur­ing the just con­cluded All Pro­gres­sives Congress (APC) Bauchi State ward congress in Warji Lo­cal Govern­ment Area of the state.




Of­fi­cer DSP Haruna Mo­hammed, con­firmed the killing and the ar­rest. He said “one per­son was cer­ti­fied dead and five sus­pects have been ar­rested, and in­ves­ti­ga­tion is in progress over the in­ci­dent.”

The com­mit­tee set up by the APC to con­duct con­gresses in Bauchi State has how­ever ex­plained that yes­ter­day’s ward congress was gen­er­ally peace­ful in all parts of the state




com­mit­tee over­see­ing the ward con­gresses in state, Suleiman Haruna, de­scribed the ex­er­cise as peace­ful and suc­cess­ful say­ing there was a large turnout of party mem­bers in the over 200 wards of the state.

Suleiman told news­men in a tele­phone in­ter­view yes­ter­day in Bauchi, that the ex­er­cise was not only peace­ful but or­derly and suc­cess­ful in many of the ar­eas vis­ited.

Na­tional of­fi­cer of the party in the state, Cap­tain Bala Jibi, com­mended the party mem­bers for their turnout and ex­plained that ward ex­ec­u­tives would emerge at the end of the ex­er­cise, while five del­e­gates would be elected from each ward for Satur­day’s lo­cal govern­ment congress.

Cap­tain Jibi said the people demon­strated enthusiasm and zeal for the ex­er­cise and ex­plained that the large turnout showed the de­sire and com­mit­ment of the people to take over govern­ment at all lev­els in the 2015 gen­eral elec­tions.
