Mimiko rallies Labour Party leaders for Jonathan

- From Dele Ogunyemi, Ibadan

Governor of Ondo state Dr. Olusegun Mimiko arrived Ibadan, Oyo State capital, on Wednesday rallying members of the Labour Party in the state to support President Goodluck Jonathan in all ways possible.

Mimiko who was in Oyo State for the formal commissioning of a new state secretariat for Labour Party at Oke-Ado, Ibadan, insisted that Labour Party is the only true progressive party in Nigeria.

He specifically warned Labour Party members not to join the gang-up against President Jonathan saying that will not be in their best interest.

While urging other states of the federation including Oyo to embrace Labour Party for better welfare programmes, Governor Mimiko told the gathering that the Labour Party government in Ondo State has made tuition fees in the state owned university the lowest in the country.

He said: “In our university in Ondo State, tuition fees is N25,000. If there is any university in Nigeria with a tuition as low as that, let me know. Some states say they are progressive government yet tuition fees in their university is N250,000. If a public university charges N250,000, one wonders how much private universities will charge.”

Also speaking at the forum, Labour Party National Chairman Dan Nwanyawu, assured that the party will win more states in the 2015 elections, maintaining that Ondo State has demonstrated the good tidings that the party has for the people.

He also seized the opportunity to raise the hands of Alhaji Fatai Akinbade as the party’s governorship candidate for Osun State.
