Daily Trust - - NEWS - From Hope Abah, Makurdi

Six men were yesterday killed by gunmen in Ogbagaji, headquarters of Agatu LGA in Benue State. Daily Trust gathered that they had gone to the river to excavate sand for building with a tipper when they suddenly came under attack from the gunmen suspected to be Fulani mercenaries.

The legislator representing the area at the state House of Assembly, Sule Audu, said gunmen were still killing his people despite the ongoing peace processes initiated by the federal government to end violence in the state. A peace pact was signed two weeks ago but there are still reported killings and attacks on people of Logo and Agatu. Police said the separate incidents in Logo at the weekend were robberies while the Agatu attack was not brought to their notice. Spokesman of the command, Daniel Ezeala, said he was yet to be briefed on yesterday’s killing.
