Gunmen attack construction coy in Bauchi

Gunmen at the weekend attacked Mother Cat Company at Yana in Shira Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Briefing newsmen about the incident yesterday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed, said the gunmen stormed the company in a bus and pick-up van.

“They ransacked and carted away explosives materials used for construction purposes at the site. Combined security forces engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun battle for more than one hour and they were forced to abandon the explosives laden pick-up van,” he said.

He said police recovered one Hilux Van with registration number no; 15 A 15BA, belonging to the Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Bauchi,13 boxes of IED cable detonators, five motorcycles and a box containing 311rounds of live ammunition.

The police spokesman said investigation into the matter has commenced and that the entire area has been cordoned off.
