Reduce c’ttees to four - Agbakoba
A delegate representing civil society organisation Olisa Agbakoba yesterday said 20 committees are “unwieldy” for the National Conference, describing some of the committees as irrelevant.
Agbakoba wants fellow delegates to concentrate on discussing Nigeria’s “future,” type of constitution and the system that can “drive” Nigeria forward.
“I am here my lord to discuss Nigeria’s future; what type of constitution are we looking for? What type of system can drive Nigeria forward?
“My lord, you may find that maybe four committees are relevant and in that context, we then have more time really get into discussions. But I don’t think we need more than four committees discuss these matters.”
However, many delegates disagreed with Agbakoba, saying that all issues being handled by the 20 committees are important and should be addressed by the conference.
