PDP will reclaim Kano in 2015 – Lawmaker

- From Haruna Gimba Yaya, Kano

A member of the Kano State House of Assembly, Shuaibu Tambai Tokadawa, yesterday restated their resolve to deliver the state to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) come 2015.

Tambai spoke to Daily Trust yesterday ahead of President Goodluck Jonathan’s visit to the state today, to formally receive former governor of the state, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau who ditched the All Progressives Congress (APC) for PDP.

“From Tuesday’s (today’s) ceremony we will prove to criticsthat PDP is still very strong in Kano state despite Governor Kwankwaso’s defection, and come 2015 we are 100 per cent sure that we will deliver the state to PDP,” he said.

Tambai, a former majority whip in the state assembly who refused to join his colleagues the APC said all the necessary arrangements for the reception of Shekarau into the party have been completed .

He called on members of the party to come out en mass to welcome the president to the state, urging them to remain law abiding during and after the ceremony.

The lawmaker also debunked speculations that people are being paid to participate in the rally.

“One cannot prevent opposition from making such insinuations, but going through the state and seeing our party banners in all corners of the state will testify to you that people are supporting the party willingly without being given any incentives, because they have since realized that APC is not a reliable party,” he said.
