CIS ral­lies sup­port for power com­pa­nies

The Group Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor of BGL, Al­bert Oku­magba, said the Char­tered In­sti­tute of Stock­bro­kers (CIS) is cur­rently en­gag­ing the min­istries of power and steel and agri­cul­ture on how the re­cently sold power dis­tri­bu­tion and gen­er­a­tion com­pa­nies can be listed and raise fresh fund from the na­tion’s cap­i­tal mar­ket.

Speak­ing in La­gos on the third CIS an­nual na­tional work­shop billed to hold in Abuja this month, Oku­magba, who is also the chair­man of the work­shop com­mit­tee, said the in­sti­tute has en­gaged the min­istry of agri­cul­ture on how a plat­form can be cre­ated for the agri­cul­ture sec­tor on the com­mod­ity ex­change in or­der to cre­ate a value change.

He said part of the dis­cus­sions the in­sti­tute have had with the Bureau for Pub­lic En­ter­prises (BPE) cen­tered around mak­ing the newly pri­va­tised com­pa­nies listed on the Nigeria Stock Ex­change five years af­ter they have been in oper­a­tion.
