CIS rallies support for power companies

- From Kayode Ekundayo, Lagos

The Group Managing Director of BGL, Albert Okumagba, said the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) is currently engaging the ministries of power and steel and agriculture on how the recently sold power distribution and generation companies can be listed and raise fresh fund from the nation’s capital market.

Speaking in Lagos on the third CIS annual national workshop billed to hold in Abuja this month, Okumagba, who is also the chairman of the workshop committee, said the institute has engaged the ministry of agriculture on how a platform can be created for the agriculture sector on the commodity exchange in order to create a value change.

He said part of the discussions the institute have had with the Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE) centered around making the newly privatised companies listed on the Nigeria Stock Exchange five years after they have been in operation.
