South Africa to start process for procur­ing more power

South Africa will start a pro­cure­ment process for 2,500 megawatts of additional coal gen­er­a­tion elec­tric­ity ca­pac­ity next month, En­ergy Min­is­ter Ben Martins said, as it strives to boost power sup­ply and pre­vent black­outs.

In a state­ment, Martins said the depart­ment of en­ergy would also look at procur­ing 800 megawatts of co­gen­er­a­tion power from this month.
