Okon hands Ajibade Fal­cons call-up

Su­per Fal­cons head coach, Ed­win Okon has handed an im­me­di­ate in­vi­ta­tion to Flamin­goes and FC Robo at­tacker, Rashidat Ajibade.

The FC Robo striker per­formed ex­cel­lently well at the just-con­cluded FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica where the side ex­ited at the quar­ter­fi­nals.

Ajibade is ex­pected to join her team­mates on Sun­day in Abuja in fur­ther prepa­ra­tions for the high pro­file friendly against the In­domitable Lionesses of Cameroon on Tues­day, April 29 at the FIFA Goal Project pitch, Abuja and the Africa Women Cham­pi­onship (AWC) fi­nal qual­i­fy­ing match against the She-Amavubi of Rwanda.

Okon said he de­cided to add the Nige­rian cadet in­ter­na­tional to his side to bring more com­pe­ti­tion in the side’s at­tack­ing for­ma­tion.

“I’ve in­vited Flamin­goes and FC Robo at­tacker, Rashidat Ajibade to the Su­per Fal­cons, her in­vi­ta­tion will bring more com­pet­i­tive­ness in the at­tack.

“Ajibade will ar­rive to the camp on Sun­day to join oth­ers in our prepa­ra­tions for the friendly game against the In­domitable Lionesses of Cameroon.

“We’re happy with the added time in our hands to pre­pare for the game against Cameroon.

“We hope to pre­pare ad­e­quately to give the Cameroo­ni­ans the tough­est game of their lives.

“We be­lieve the friendly en­counter will give us the boost and con­fi­dence to fight the Rwan­dans for a place in the forth­com­ing Africa Women Cham­pi­onship in Namibia later in the year,” said the Nigeria Women Pre­mier League (NWPL) side, Rivers An­gels head coach to su­pers­port.com.

The en­counter against the Cameroo­ni­ans was moved to April 29 from the orig­i­nal April 15 date at the in­stance of the op­po­nents.
