Okon hands Ajibade Falcons call-up
Super Falcons head coach, Edwin Okon has handed an immediate invitation to Flamingoes and FC Robo attacker, Rashidat Ajibade.
The FC Robo striker performed excellently well at the just-concluded FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica where the side exited at the quarterfinals.
Ajibade is expected to join her teammates on Sunday in Abuja in further preparations for the high profile friendly against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon on Tuesday, April 29 at the FIFA Goal Project pitch, Abuja and the Africa Women Championship (AWC) final qualifying match against the She-Amavubi of Rwanda.
Okon said he decided to add the Nigerian cadet international to his side to bring more competition in the side’s attacking formation.
“I’ve invited Flamingoes and FC Robo attacker, Rashidat Ajibade to the Super Falcons, her invitation will bring more competitiveness in the attack.
“Ajibade will arrive to the camp on Sunday to join others in our preparations for the friendly game against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon.
“We’re happy with the added time in our hands to prepare for the game against Cameroon.
“We hope to prepare adequately to give the Cameroonians the toughest game of their lives.
“We believe the friendly encounter will give us the boost and confidence to fight the Rwandans for a place in the forthcoming Africa Women Championship in Namibia later in the year,” said the Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) side, Rivers Angels head coach to supersport.com.
The encounter against the Cameroonians was moved to April 29 from the original April 15 date at the instance of the opponents.
