Gunmen kill 18 in Borno

- By Ibrahim Kabiru Sule

Gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram have killed 18 people in Goza town of Borno state, BBC Hausa Service reported yesterday.

One of the people who escaped from the killings said armed men, who appeared with military uniforms, barricaded the road leading to Goza town and killed 18 travellers.

“When they stopped us in the middle of the bush, we thought that they were Nigerian soldiers, because their uniforms looked like that of the Nigerian soldiers and they were carrying sophisticated weapons,” he said.

Asked on how they escaped from the attack, he said “they did not kill us because they discovered we were not from Goza.”
