Afenifere forum urges fairness in Nasarawa PDP

- From Abubakar Ibrahim

A Yoruba speaking group in Nasarawa State, the Afenifere Forum, has urged the PDP to be fair to all its governorship aspirants.

The group which backs the aspiration of Dr. Yusuf Mohammed Agabi said its decision was based on the achievements recorded by the aspirant in the area of education, sport development and transformation of lives of the average Nasarawa resident.

Chairman of the group, Mr. Majeed Alakija, who led hundreds of other members on a solidarity visit to the aspirant at the state PDP secretariat in Lafia, urged officials of the party to provide a level playing ground for all aspirants in the race.

Alakija said: “We want to tell the world that members of the Afenifere group in Nasarawa State are in support of the governorship ambition of Dr, Agabi and we will use our over 170, 000 membership strength in the state to help in putting the PDP back to power in the state as long as the Yorubas in Nasarawa are all in PDP. This is evident in the refusal of the Nasarawa Yorubas to pay a solidarity visit to the five APC governors from the south-west when they visited their Nasarawa State counterpart, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura sometime, last year.”

The PDP governorship aspirant, Dr. Agabi, who was represented by his political aid, Alhaji Wakil Hudu Mukaila, commended the Afenifere’s efforts at ensuring that PDP reclaims Nasarawa in 2015, adding that with their support, PDP would emerge victorious.
