Traders fume as task force demolishes structures in Awka

Traders and tenants who were affected by yesterday’s demolition of illegal structures in Awka South LGA of Anambra State by the task force unit said they were not given enough time to relocate, arguing that they were only told to quit on Monday.

Fifty members of the task force swooped on the stalls early yesterday, throwing out their wares including food items, provisions and clothing materials among others. Traders struggled with them for over five hours. Mrs Floxy Ndukwe, the media assistant in the local government said she was not aware of the exercise.
