Gun­men kid­nap Kogi speaker’s sons

Two chil­dren of the Kogi State House of As­sem­bly Speaker, Mr. Mo­mohlawal Ji­moh, were yes­ter­day kid­napped by gun­men at his Okengwe res­i­dence in Okene Lo­cal Govern­ment Area.

The speaker, who con­firmed the in­ci­dent, said he is yet to be con­tacted by the kid­nap­pers.

Daily Trust gath­ered that the gun­men, who gained en­trance to the house at about 4 am by scal­ing the fence, also made away with valu­ables in­clud­ing jew­elleries, tele­vi­sion and a gen­er­at­ing set.

It was fur­ther gath­ered that the gun­men, who were ten in num­ber shot spo­rad­i­cally into the air dur­ing the oper­a­tion.

The speaker said af­ter gain­ing ac­cess into the house, the gun­men de­manded for his two sons, Ogir­ima Ji­moh, 7 and Afeez Ji­moh, 3.

He added that the gun­men also col­lected N20,000 from the house and de­manded for his num­ber be­fore leav­ing the premises in his wife’s car.

The state Po­lice Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer, Emeh Emeka, con­firmed the in­ci­dent, say­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion has com­menced.

The speaker’s chil­dren kid­nap is com­ing few months af­ter the wife and daugh­ter of chair­man of Adavi Lo­cal Govern­ment Area, Sal­ihu Adavi­roko, were kid­napped at his res­i­dent in Adavi, also in Kogi cen­tral se­na­to­rial district.
