Gunmen kidnap Kogi speaker’s sons

Two children of the Kogi State House of Assembly Speaker, Mr. Momohlawal Jimoh, were yesterday kidnapped by gunmen at his Okengwe residence in Okene Local Government Area.

The speaker, who confirmed the incident, said he is yet to be contacted by the kidnappers.

Daily Trust gathered that the gunmen, who gained entrance to the house at about 4 am by scaling the fence, also made away with valuables including jewellerie­s, television and a generating set.

It was further gathered that the gunmen, who were ten in number shot sporadical­ly into the air during the operation.

The speaker said after gaining access into the house, the gunmen demanded for his two sons, Ogirima Jimoh, 7 and Afeez Jimoh, 3.

He added that the gunmen also collected N20,000 from the house and demanded for his number before leaving the premises in his wife’s car.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Emeh Emeka, confirmed the incident, saying investigat­ion has commenced.

The speaker’s children kidnap is coming few months after the wife and daughter of chairman of Adavi Local Government Area, Salihu Adaviroko, were kidnapped at his resident in Adavi, also in Kogi central senatorial district.
