With so many diets and eating plans to choose from, deciding which plan is best for you can be challengin­g.

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics offers these suggestion­s:

Follow a diet that’s rich in fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and also incorporat­es low-fat dairy and lean meats, fish, poultry, nuts, beans and eggs.

Limit saturated fats, salt, trans fats, cholestero­l and added sugars. Look for nutrient-rich foods. Choose a variety of healthy foods for better nutrition and to prevent dietary boredom.
