With so many di­ets and eat­ing plans to choose from, de­cid­ing which plan is best for you can be chal­leng­ing.

The Academy of Nu­tri­tion and Di­etet­ics of­fers these sug­ges­tions:

Fol­low a diet that’s rich in fruits, veg­eta­bles and whole grains, and also in­cor­po­rates low-fat dairy and lean meats, fish, poul­try, nuts, beans and eggs.

Limit sat­u­rated fats, salt, trans fats, choles­terol and added sug­ars. Look for nutrient-rich foods. Choose a va­ri­ety of healthy foods for bet­ter nu­tri­tion and to pre­vent di­etary bore­dom.
