‘ Why Shettima did not attend meeting with Jonathan’
Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State was unable to attend the governors’ meeting with President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja yesterday because he was eager to see that the secondary school girls abducted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents are freed.
Malam Isa Umar Gusau, the Special Adviser to the governor on Communications, said Shettima decided to remain in the state “to give encouragement to distraught parents.”
According to him, “The governor leaving the state at this trying moment would demoralize dozens of families that are waiting to see their daughters. He did not in any way boycott the meeting,” Gusau said.
