Arik Pro Am Golf Tour­ney to keep youths busy

The an­nual Arik Air Pro-Am Golf Tour­na­ment, whose first edi­tion will tee off May 15 to 18, 2014 at Otukpo Golf and Coun­try Club, is de­signed to em­power the youths in the state and Nigeria as a whole.

The Chair­man of the Or­ga­niz­ing Com­mit­tee of the Tour­na­ment Otunba Olug­benga Odu­sanya told sports re­porters in Abuja that the tour­na­ment is also aimed at “keep­ing the youths busy, rather than wan­der­ing around in the lo­cals”.

Otunba Odu­sanya also show­ered en­comi­ums on Pres­i­dent Good­luck Jonathan for do­ing ev­ery­thing hu­manly pos­si­ble to em­power the youths of the coun­try in all ram­i­fi­ca­tions and most es­pe­cially through sports a rea­son why this year’s tour­na­ment is to be held in his hon­our.

“This tour­na­ment is in hon­our of Pres­i­dent Good­luck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR and Com­man­der in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Repub­lic of Nigeria. Arik Air wants to show ap­pre­ci­a­tion to Mr. Pres­i­dent for do­ing so much to em­power the youths of this coun­try and to make them good cit­i­zens of this coun­try”, Odu­sanya dis­closed.

The Head of Abuja Of­fice of Arik Air, Dr. Nnamdi Bolu also dis­closed at the weekend that the com­pany is ready to make the com­pe­ti­tion one of the best ever or­ga­nized.

A to­tal of 350 golfers are ex­pected to par­tic­i­pate in this com­pe­ti­tion with the break down as fol­lows: 150 pro­fes­sional golfers and 200 am­a­teur golfers.
