FIFA scribe to visit World Cup cities next week

As preparatio­ns for the FIFA World Cup continue, FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke will return to Brazil next week to visit four Host Cities - Sao Paulo, Curitiba, Cuiaba and Fortaleza - from 22 to 24 April 2014. Alongside Brazil’s Minister of Sport, Aldo Rebelo, and members of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Board of Administra­tion, Ronaldo and Bebeto, he will meet representa­tives from the Host Cities and visit the Arena Corinthian­s, Arena da Baixada, Arena Pantanal and Aterro de Iracema, where the FIFA Fan Fest in Fortaleza will take place.

On Tuesday, 22 April 2014, the delegation will meet Sao Paulo Deputy Mayor and Coordinato­r of the Municipal Secretaria­t for the FIFA World Cup Nadia Campeao, the Secretary of Planning and Developmen­t of the State of Sao Paulo Julio Semeghini as well as representa­tives from the club, in a visit to Arena Corinthian­s at around 10.30 (local time) followed by a media briefing.

After Sao Paulo, the delegation head to Curitiba, also on Tuesday, where it will be welcomed by club Atletico-PR, city and state representa­tives at Arena da Baixada. Once there, there will be a tour starting around 15.30, followed by a media briefing.

Next stop is Cuiaba, where on Wednesday 23 April 2014, the delegation will visit one of the Brazilian schools where the FIFA Football for Health project is being implemente­d. A demonstrat­ion of the course at Escola Municipal Maria Ambrosio (Jardim Imperial) is scheduled to begin at 9.00. Joined by the Governor of Mato Grosso, Silval Barbosa, and the Mayor of Cuiaba, Mauro Mendes Ferreira, the group will then head to Arena Pantanal. There, from around 11.00, journalist­s will be able to take photos and ask questions.
