- By Mike Oboh

Bayelsa United FC is adequately prepared to do the nation proud by defeating their next opponents - Sewe Sporting FC to advance to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup competition.

The Club chairman, Mr. Odogu Akpofini, who stated this in a chat with Daily Trust in Abuja, said though they do not have much information about their next opponents, they are focused and adequately committed to overrun their foes this weekend in the first leg encounter in San-Pedro.

“In terms of commitment the team is ready to do Nigeria proud. We are taking every game as it comes. We have little clue about our Ivorian opponent, Sewe Sporting FC of Cote d’Ivoire but I am confident that we will carry the day. We are into the competition not only to make impact, but our target is the trophy,” he said.

Akpofini, who dismissed rumours of plans to engage a new technical adviser for the club, commended the current technical crew for a job well done so far in both the league and the continental showpiece.

Akpofini, who described the exit of their former coach Ladan Bosso as shocking and ill-timed, said he is happy that the vacuum created with his departure has been taken care of with the results his former assistants are posting in the club.
