Pray for Nigeria, Gbemi Saraki urges

- By Turaki A. Hassan

Christians in Nigeria have been urged to pray for the country as they joined other faithful to celebrate Easter, a festival marking the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Senator Gbemisola Saraki, who stated this in her Easter message, said this was a time that the country needs the prayer of not only the Christian faithful but the entire Nigerians.

She said what the country is going through now require that all religious groups, politicians and everybody that truly loves the country should come together and ensure that Nigeria survives this trying period.

“Nigeria is going through a lot now and what is happening is not peculiar to any part of the country whether in Borno or Lagos. What is important is that we make up our minds to boldly face our challenges,” she said, according to a statement from her office.

She added that “Nigeria is at the threshold of greatness and like a pregnant woman in labour, she is going through a lot of pains and agonies associated with it.

“What this means to each and every one of us is that there is light at the end of this dark tunnel. The pains and agonies of labour may seem too much for us to bear, but it cannot be compared with the bundle of joy that will follow such pains. I am very sure that we will come out of this trial very strong.”
