NTDC solicits SURE-P intervention to boost tourism
The Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Mrs. Sally Mbanefo, has taken the campaign to promote domestic tourism to the Subsidy Re-Investment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), calling for collaboration among the agencies.
The NTDC boss said that collaboration between the NTDC and SURE-P would propel Nigeria’s domestic tourism potentials from a mere rhetoric to realities, stressing the immense advantages of promoting domestic tourism.
Mbanefo said that she would grow the tourism value chain for jobs and revenues in furtherance of her domestic tourism agenda, adding that the corporation will organise seven regional sports carnivals to focus on youth participation and engagement.
Unveiling her 2014 agenda to the SURE-P team, Sally said her administration will ensure publication of a National Domestic Tourism Calendar for all; plant Tourism Information Desk at major airports; produce an NTDC branded magazine for private sector and state governments to showcase their tourism assets, and also, air a television quiz game show that will educate Nigerians on tourism sites, reward them for visiting the sites and generate revenue for the corporation.
Responding, the Chairman of SURE-P, retired General Martin Luther Agwai, commended the NTDC boss for her unrelenting efforts at promoting tourism, especially among Nigerians.
