Blast at Nigerian Gas Company

People living at Ijoko area of Abule Egba in Lagos have been gripped by fear following a gas explosion yesterday at the premises of the Nigerian Gas Company.

No life was lost in the incident, but offensive odor has been oozing out from the scene, residents said.

The incident was first reported at about 7pm by some residents

Spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in the South West, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the explosion and called on the gas company to urgently blocked the leakage.

He also advised residents to avoid acts that could aggravate the situation. He said that NEMA was trying to mobilise workers to the scene of the leakage.
