Blast at Nige­rian Gas Com­pany

People liv­ing at Ijoko area of Abule Egba in La­gos have been gripped by fear fol­low­ing a gas ex­plo­sion yes­ter­day at the premises of the Nige­rian Gas Com­pany.

No life was lost in the in­ci­dent, but of­fen­sive odor has been ooz­ing out from the scene, res­i­dents said.

The in­ci­dent was first re­ported at about 7pm by some res­i­dents

Spokesman for the Na­tional Emer­gency Man­age­ment Agency (NEMA) in the South West, Mr. Ibrahim Farin­loye, con­firmed the ex­plo­sion and called on the gas com­pany to ur­gently blocked the leak­age.

He also ad­vised res­i­dents to avoid acts that could ag­gra­vate the sit­u­a­tion. He said that NEMA was try­ing to mo­bilise work­ers to the scene of the leak­age.
