Confab c’ttees to sit at NJI, NICON Luxury hotel

- By Nuruddeen M. Abdallah

The National Conference committees are now to sit at the premises of the National Judicial Council (NJI) and NICON Luxury Hotel Abuja, not Sheraton Hotel and Towers, as earlier scheduled.

Conference chairman Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi announced the change of venue yesterday in a statement by the Assistant Secretary on Media and Communication, Akpandem James.

He said while committees 1 to 10 will hold their sessions at the NJI, committees 11 to 20 hitherto scheduled to sit at the Sheraton will now hold their sessions at the NICON Luxury Hotel.

The change in venue for the second set of committees became necessary when it was obvious that the venue announced earlier will not be available for the number of days envisaged.

Committees 1 to 10 are: Devolution of Power; Political Restructuring and Forms of Government; National Security; Environment; Politics and Governance; Law, Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Reform; Social Sector; Transportation; Science Technology and Development; and Agriculture.

Committees 11 to 20 are those on Civil Society, Labour and Sports; Public Service; Political Parties and Electoral Matters; Foreign Policy and Diaspora Matters; Land Tenure and National Boundaries; Economy, Trade and Investment; Energy; Religion; Public Finance and Revenue; and Immigration and Related Matters.

The committees would begin their work today.
