Kano NUJ to honour Gaya, others
Kano State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) yesterday said that as part of its activities for the 2014 Press Week, it would honour four people in the state.
The personalities to be honoured during the Press Week are; Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya, member representing Takai and Sumaila federal constituency, Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, Kano state deputy governor and interim management officer of Tarauni Local Government Area.
Speaking to newsmen, the state NUJ chairman, Comrade Abduljalal Haruna, said the union set aside the week to review its achievements and challenges with a view to ensuring better performance.
“Journalism in recent years has experienced a lot huddles ranging from insecurity to professionalism; that is why this time around, the union will reminisce on its achievements and challenges with a view to correcting lapses and improving upon successes recorded. We also intend to focus on professionalism and foster a good relationship between our members and security agents,” he said.
