8 pas­sen­gers in­jured in Sheda vil­lage auto crash

Eight pas­sen­gers were se­ri­ously in­jured in a mo­tor ac­ci­dent which oc­curred at Sheda vil­lage, on the Abuja-Lokoja High­way.

A wit­ness said the ac­ci­dent hap­pened when a Toy­ota com­muter bus with reg­is­tra­tion num­ber DKP 73 XA over­took an­other ve­hi­cle dan­ger­ously and col­lided with an on­com­ing Volk­swa­gen Golf car with reg­is­tra­tion num­ber ASH 323 BJ.

He said the Golf driver, also com­ing on a high speed from Lokoja axis, veered off the road af­ter col­lid­ing with the bus, adding that four pas­sen­gers from the Golf car, in­clud­ing the driver, were trapped in­side the car.

Our re­porter gath­ered that the trapped pas­sen­gers from the Golf car were re­moved with an ex­tri­cat­ing ma­chine by men of the Federal Road Safety Com­mis­sion (FRSC).

When con­tacted, Yan­goji Unit Com­man­der of the FRSC, Aus­tine Chuk­wudi Okeke, con­firmed the ac­ci­dent, say­ing eight per­sons com­pris­ing four male and four fe­male were in­jured.

He at­trib­uted the ac­ci­dent to wrong­ful over­tak­ing, dis­clos­ing that the in­jured vic­tims were taken to Kwali Gen­eral Hospi­tal for at­ten­tion.

He dis­closed that three per­sons were also in­jured in an­other ac­ci­dent which oc­curred on Satur­day evening at Kwaita vil­lage, along the Abuja-Lokoja High­way.

Ac­cord­ing to him, the ac­ci­dent hap­pened around 6:16 pm when the driver of a Daf tanker with reg­is­tra­tion num­ber ABC 467 XA lost con­trol while ne­go­ti­at­ing a sharp bend and crashed into a ditch, say­ing the in­jured vic­tims were taken to Kwali Gen­eral Hospi­tal.
