8 passengers injured in Sheda village auto crash
Eight passengers were seriously injured in a motor accident which occurred at Sheda village, on the Abuja-Lokoja Highway.
A witness said the accident happened when a Toyota commuter bus with registration number DKP 73 XA overtook another vehicle dangerously and collided with an oncoming Volkswagen Golf car with registration number ASH 323 BJ.
He said the Golf driver, also coming on a high speed from Lokoja axis, veered off the road after colliding with the bus, adding that four passengers from the Golf car, including the driver, were trapped inside the car.
Our reporter gathered that the trapped passengers from the Golf car were removed with an extricating machine by men of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC).
When contacted, Yangoji Unit Commander of the FRSC, Austine Chukwudi Okeke, confirmed the accident, saying eight persons comprising four male and four female were injured.
He attributed the accident to wrongful overtaking, disclosing that the injured victims were taken to Kwali General Hospital for attention.
He disclosed that three persons were also injured in another accident which occurred on Saturday evening at Kwaita village, along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway.
According to him, the accident happened around 6:16 pm when the driver of a Daf tanker with registration number ABC 467 XA lost control while negotiating a sharp bend and crashed into a ditch, saying the injured victims were taken to Kwali General Hospital.
