Po­lice ar­rest ap­pli­cant over mur­der

Po­lice in Gombe State have ar­rested a 26-year-old ap­pli­cant, Job Dan­ladi, for al­legedly killing his friend and steal­ing his mo­tor­cy­cle.

The state Po­lice Pub­lic Re­la­tions Of­fi­cer, DSP Fwaje Ata­jiri, stated this in an in­ter­view with news­men in Gombe yes­ter­day.

Ata­jiri said the sus­pect had re­quested the de­ceased, one Peter Mela, to con­vey him on his mo­tor­cy­cle from Bil­liri town to Ku­fai vil­lage for a N150 fare.

He said that dur­ing the trip, the sus­pect used a ma­chete to kill his vic­tim and took the mo­tor­cy­cle to Ayaba vil­lage.

He said the sus­pect was ar­rested fol­low­ing po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tion and that the sus­pect has con­fessed to the crime. He added that the sus­pect would be charged to court af­ter in­ves­ti­ga­tion is com­pleted.

Ata­jiri also told news­men that an­other sus­pect, Nura Sambo, con­spired with one Ibrahim Kumo alias Runi, both of Bil­liri town, to snatch a ve­hi­cle. He said that the owner of the ve­hi­cle, Pada Stephen, raised an alarm which at­tracted the at­ten­tion of po­lice­men on pa­trol. He said Kumo es­caped but that Sambo is as­sist­ing the po­lice in their in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

Ata­jiri said a sub-ma­chine gun was re­cov­ered from the sus­pect. ( NAN)
