15 feared dead in fresh Wukari violence
Gunmen yesterday launched an attack on Ndoyaku village of Wukari local government area, killing 15 persons according to residents.
The attackers who were said to be heavily armed and wearing military uniforms, stormed the village which is a few kilometers away from the administrative headquarters of the council at about 9a.m.
Former President of the Jukun Youth of Vision, Wukari, Barrister Luka Agbu, alleged that the attack was launched by hired mercenaries bent on reducing the population of the Jukuns.
According to him, the militias attacked the village and other villages that were previously attacked with Machine Guns thereby overpowering the security personnel in the area.
He appealed to the state and federal government to deploy more security presence to the community to contain the situation.
When contacted, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), ASP Joseph Kwaji, confirmed the attack but said he was yet to be briefed by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) from the area.
