Kaduna begins biometric registration of taxable persons
The Kaduna State Government, yesterday, commenced biometric registration of all taxable persons in the state.
Alhaji Muhammad Tanko, the Executive Chairman, Kaduna State Board of Internal Revenue, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria in Kaduna.
The chairman said the registration was in line with effort of government to enhance revenue generation.
Tanko said the registration would include civil servants, political office holders as well as businessmen and women.
“We have captured the Governor and his Deputy during the inauguration of the Taxpayers’ Biometrics Card Registration System in the State,’’ he said.
The chairman said the registration would help in building a purposeful and robust tax payers’ database for the state.
“It will also widen the tax net and improve effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery,’’ he said.
Tanko said the board would ensure proper enforcement on every eligible tax payer in accordance with the provisions of the law.
He said that the state lawmakers were working on a bill that would eliminate multiple payment of tax.
The chairman said that the bill would also address many challenges in the revenue generation administration.
He said when passed into law, the bill would address the issue of revenue leakage and improve the capacity of the tax officials.
