Family of abducted Zaria doctor begs for his release
The family of Dr. Stephen Kirchner yesterday pleaded with his abductors to consider his old age and fragile health condition to free him.
Speaking with our correspondent at their family home, the wife of the doctor, Mrs. Gloria Rahinatu Kirchner, said of all the 40 years she has spent with her husband, his abduction is the most traumatic moment.
“I want to use this medium to beg whoever is responsible for the kidnap to please release my husband. He is 74 years and his health condition is very fragile that requires daily medication. We are just managing life like most Nigerians. May be the gunmen had mistaken us as rich people. Therefore, I am appealing to them to kindly release my husband because he is my closest friend,” Mrs. Kirchner pleaded.
So far, according to her, nobody has contacted the family to demand for anything or to tell them the reason for the abduction.
Spokesperson of the Kaduna state police command, SP Aminu Lawal, told Daily Trust that the command, in collaboration with other sister security outfits, “are making progress, and very soon we would get to the kidnappers.”
Dr. Kirchner was abducted from his Tukur Tukur residence in the evening of Tuesday after the abductors tricked him out of his house, pretending as his patients.
