UniIlorin teaching hospital begins open heart surgery
The University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) is to commence open heart surgery in August this year.
Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Prof Abdulwaheed Olatinwo, disclosed this at the meeting of the staff union of the hospital.
The CMD stated that there were great transformations in the hospital as it has recorded success in renal transplant and test tube babies. He noted that four years ago, the hospital was faced with series of challenges but reiterated the resolve of the institution on working in tandem with the transformation agenda of the federal government in quality health delivery.
Olatinwo charged all health care providers to have attitudinal orientation and stressed the need for effective service delivery.
“The union should ensure that it follows the ethics and rules; unionism does not support laziness and staff must inculcate the habit of promptness in their duties.
There must be attitudinal orientation, as government work must never be taken with levity, it is important to have a mindset to collectively work hard,” he said.
