Fraser-Pryce, Rud­isha top NY meet

Reign­ing Olympic 800m cham­pion David Rud­isha, two-time Olympic 100m cham­pion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Bri­tain’s reign­ing world 400m cham­pion Chris­tine Ohu­ruogu will com­pete in the New York Di­a­mond League meet on June 14, or­gan­is­ers have said.

Rud­isha, a 25-year-old Kenyan, has run six of the 10 fastest 800m in his­tory, in­clud­ing a world record of 1min 40.91sec in the 2012 Olympic fi­nal.

His win­ning time of 1:41.74 in the 2012 New York meet­ing was the fastest time ever on US soil. FraserPryce, 27, won the 2008 and 2012 Olympic crowns and has six world ti­tles, in­clud­ing the 100, 200 and 4x100m re­lay last year to make the Ja­maican sprint queen last year’s IAAF Women’s Ath­lete of the Year.

Ohu­ruogu, 29, won the 2008 Olympic 400m ti­tle as well as last year’s world crown and ranks sec­ond in the world this year.

New Zealand’s Va­lerie Adams, 29, a two-time Olympic and four­time world shot put cham­pion, is also in the field. She has 46 con­sec­u­tive vic­to­ries dat­ing to Au­gust 22, 2010, and had eight of last year’s top-10 world per­for­mances. Reign­ing world in­door high jump cham­pion and 2013 out­door world run­ner-up Mu­taz Essa Barshim of Qatar and Amer­i­can Erik Ky­nard, the 2012 Olympic run­ner-up, will com­pete against reign­ing world cham­pion Bo­hdan Bon­darenko of Ukraine.



Tins­ley, the 2012 Olympic 400 hur­dles run­ner-up, and 2012 bronze medal­ist Javier Cul­son of Puerto Rico have also en­tered.

Al­ready in the line-up was Ja­maican Yo­han Blake, the 2011 100m world cham­pion and a mem­ber of the 2012 Olympic cham­pion 4x100 re­lay; reign­ing Olympic 100 hur­dles cham­pion Sally Pear­son of Aus­tralia and reign­ing Olympic and world in­door pole vault cham­pion Jenn Suhr of the United States.
